Worms

A Rhineland-Palatinate city on the Rhine, among Germany's oldest, once the seat of an imperial diet and long a centre of medieval Jewish scholarship whose synagogue and cemetery survive as some of the oldest Jewish heritage sites in Europe. Wine production, chemicals and a well-known leather and liqueur trade carry a modest economy built more on history and viticulture than on modern industry.
