Solingen

A hill city in the Bergisches Land above Wuppertal, known for centuries as the City of Blades for a cutlery and knife-making trade that still carries the name abroad even as the workshops have shrunk. Metalworking and toolmaking remain a larger share of the local economy than in most German cities its size, alongside a growing service sector.
