Siegen

A hilly North Rhine-Westphalia city in the Siegerland, long a centre of iron and steel working that predates the Ruhr's industrialisation by centuries, its economy built on metalworking, automotive suppliers and a growing university. The old town climbs steeply up the hillside around a castle, giving the city a compact, layered look unusual for the region.
