Reutlingen

A Baden-Württemberg city at the edge of the Swabian Jura, once a centre of German textile manufacturing whose old town, spared the worst of wartime bombing, still shows medieval and half-timbered streets. Precision engineering and optics firms grew out of the old textile-machinery trade, and a technical university keeps research close to the factories.
