Regensburg

A Bavarian city on the Danube whose medieval old town, built on trade along the river, survived the war almost untouched and now forms one of the best-preserved historic centres in Germany. The economy mixes automotive and electronics manufacturing, anchored by a major carmaker's plant, with tourism drawn by the old town itself.
