Pforzheim

A Baden-Württemberg city at the northern edge of the Black Forest, long known as the Gold City for a jewellery and watchmaking trade that once made it a centre of German precision manufacturing. Heavily destroyed in the war and rebuilt with little of the old townscape kept, its economy today leans on precision engineering and a shrunken but still present jewellery industry.
