Lübeck

A Baltic port and former capital of the Hanseatic League, its brick-Gothic old town on an island in the Trave a UNESCO World Heritage site and still recognisable from its marzipan and its city gate seen on every souvenir. Shipping, logistics and tourism carry the economy today, alongside a large hospital and medical-technology cluster around the university.
