Ludwigsburg

A Baden-Württemberg city just north of Stuttgart built around one of Germany's largest baroque palaces, commissioned by a duke who wanted a residence to rival Versailles, and now a venue for concerts and festivals. Automotive and electronics suppliers tied to the Stuttgart region carry a prosperous economy, with the palace and its gardens drawing tourism on the side.
